Hello, and we're back and in the mood for more good food.
For today, we go down by the sea (not literally) for Fish and Chips
Well, according to our recommendations we went toFish and Chicks, which has two outlets currently, one at Cineleisure and Ang Mo Kio. We went to the Cineleisure one which was more accessible.
Well what is so special about this place is that instead of getting your usual fish and chips from restaurants, you can now get them at regular kopitiams near your place
So we ordered their Chill Crab and Salted Egg Fish and Chips and their Crispy Chicken Burger:

They came in a pan which is similar to Fish and Co, and well you don't get such fancy presentation from a koptiam stall do you?
We first tried the Chilli Crab and Salted Egg Fish and Chips

Firstly, the presentation was already above expectations and from the first look you can tell that the batter used for the fish is fluffy and it does not separate from the meat of the fish itself and that is honestly hard to find.
Secondly, we took a bite of each and found that the sauces were creamy and savory but not overpowering at the same time, though the portions are pretty big so you might want to share. And with the salted egg craze going on, you might think that they could have just jumped on the bandwagon, but I can assure you that it really goes well together
Thirdly, the fries was not very crunchy which I love(I prefer soggy fries), and they had truffle oil and some garnish on the fries that made it way different from any other similar dishes. It is that good.
So for the Crispy Chicken Burger:

Well, I dare say that this burger is by far the best tasting chicken burger I have ever tasted in my life, it is really that good. The bun is not a typical bun that you find from fast food chains, the bun is a whole bun sliced into half.
Secondly, the chicken, is thigh meat (similar to McSpicy) and is always the best part of the chicken (for me at least).
One thing that hit me was that, I couldn't fit such a big piece of meat in my mouth but I tried and when I took a bite. Wow, the batter was really rich and most likely to be buttermilk and the thigh meat was both soft and juicy unlike others where you find that the meat is dry and not as juicy. I had to use a tissue to clean up the mess I made from the first bite.
I can tell you that you will not get sick of this burger. Try it to know it.
Overall, it was a good experience as you can rarely find such premium fare in hawker centres or koptiams in Singapore, but it is a growing trend as more and more of such places are popping up.
Do try Fish and Chicks out if you're into cheap and good food that is not found at restaurants!
