Hello Fellow Urbanites!
The Dim-Sum lover is back @ it again with Greek-Gatsby! After mushing through the yellow-pages of food, We here @ the No’Z’y headquarters have got something special for you today, or as the Greeks like to call it, ειδικός!

Located in the heart of town along a row of identical shop houses seemingly under the same management, Place 2 R.E.A.D is a Greek-Mediterranean fusion restaurant with, you guessed it, Greek dishes fused with seafood delight!
It remains an absolute scientific mystery why the name seems to be this though. There weren’t any reading lights of that sort nor is there any books for us to browse upon.
We were seated in the midst of happy hour, where the waitress happily told us of an ongoing promotion; 2nd pint of beer at just $1 dollar. We happily obliged. Wouldn’t want to be disrespectful to our hosts now would we?

Side note: The dimly-lit area is a perfect place to dine at if you don’t want to be recognized by any of your friends there.
To be as authentic as possible, we wanted to order as much Greek food as we can without the possibly of defaulting. While reading the menu i realized the restaurant is actually a 'Place 2 R.E.A.D' a menu.

The first food that came was the Pescatora, A combination of Mussels, Prawns, Scallops and Herbs. Despite the lack of beauty in the dish, we found that the cheese was pretty generous and the scallops were extremely 'bouncy'. However, the crust was probably the result of a longer-than-expected time in the oven. The pizza would taste, and look better if it were less overcooked.

Next up was the Chilli crab sauce pasta with, you guessed it, seafood again! Joining the bandwagon from 2014 where the Chili Crab Craze first started, the pasta has succeeded where others can't; to make a great tasting Chili Crab pasta. Together with the prawns, scallops and the thick sauce, every mouth is a savory experience.

The next this was Greek Lemon Chicken. First thing i noticed about this chicken is that there is nothing Greek about this chicken. Also, the Lemon was actually the sauce below the chicken, and not the sauce that the chicken was marinated with. Lastly, taken from this angle, the chicken might look pretty big but that was due to the small bowl of wedges. Chicken tasted good though, the chicken has the right balance between dryness and wet.

The last dish of the night was Moussaka, which is baked cheese with grilled eggplants and minced beef with onions. Where the more commonplace dishes you see around Singapore is baked rice, this place serves baked cheese. BAKED CHEESE!!! Needless to say, the amount of cheese in the plate was enough to cry out 'Cheesus'. The eggplant had a nice sauteed taste to it and the minced beef would only complement the sea of baked cheese that was lathered on top of it.
If not for the dim lights, ants running about the table, disorganised waiting system, or anything other than the food, we might still patron the place. Worth it to try once though. Till next time, my fellow urbanites!
