Hi everyone!
Today I'm back with a superrrr sweet review of a classic (and petite) French dessert - macarons! A macaron is a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. This mini indulgence commonly consists of a ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. I'm sure you guys have heard about them, especially since they are widely available all around Singapore at various patisseries and cafes (think TWG and french brand Laduree hehe).
But let's put aside the more popular macaron places for now and turn our attention to Bonbeur Pattiserie. Located at the basement of Raffles City and at PasarBella (The Grandstand), Bonheur offers over 30 flavours of macarons, ranging from the classic Strawberry and Vanilla to the more unique Thai Iced Tea. The patisserie also does an excellent job at offering a great range of character macarons that attract both kids and adults alike. The Cookie Monster and Disney Tsum Tsum ones are especially popular here.

Unfortunately, when I dropped by, the Cookie Monster macarons were sold out so I went ahead and bought 3 flavours - a Donald Duck Tsum Tsum Vanilla one, as well as the Matcha and Thai Iced Tea macarons.
The Tsum Tsum macaron was no doubt adorable and almost too pretty to eat, but the vanilla flavour was not really anything out of the ordinary. It was sweet and satisfying, but I felt that the wow factor was somewhat lacking. Without the Tsum Tsum design, it was just an ordinary vanilla macaron. Nevertheless, the experience of eating a themed macaron sure has its perks, especially if you really enjoy eating with your eyes!
As for the matcha macaron, I felt that it was a bit too sweet for my liking - it was sugar-laden and overpowered the slightly bitter matcha flavour. For true blue matcha fans, this may not be the best green tea macaron for you. However, it is still a decent sweet treat and will definitely be able to satisfy your sweet tooth. Not to mention, the macarons are small in size, so you can always stop after eating one!
And saving the best for last..the Thai Iced Tea macaron, which was unexpectedly the best tasting-one out of the 3 flavours that I tried. Luckily, this was not as sweet as the matcha one, and the Thai Iced Tea flavour shines through nicely. I really love the subtle milky taste as well that reminds me of thai milk tea. DELISH!! So if you're craving Tuk Tuk Cha but you don't really want to buy a big cup pf milk tea, I highly recommend this macaron option instead!
All in all, Bonheur serves overall rather delicious macarons which are able to attract and appeal to children and adults alike. The patisserie also serves different flavoured cakes as well so you can also consider checking them out as you pick up your box of macarons!
