Hi guys!

I'm back again with another Nosey Urbanite food review and since today's theme is letter 'Q', I figured that this would be a good time to do a guide on where to find the best Quiche in Singapore!

A quiche is actually a pielike dish consisting of an unsweetened pastry shell filled with a custard and usually containing cheese and other ingredients such as vegetables, seafood or ham. As of now, quiche is still rather underrated in Singapore, but that hasn't stopped many bakeries and cafes here from serving it during lunch and tea times. Quiche is the perfect alternative to fill your tummy if you're feeling just a little peckish for lunch, as the size of each slice isn't too big.

There are a few cafes in Singapore that serve a really mean slice of quiche, one of which is Tiong Bahru Bakery.

1. Tiong Bahru Bakery

Tucked away in the basement of Raffles City Shopping Centre, Tiong Bahru Bakery was started by the Spa Esprit Group in collaboration with acclaimed Parisian baker Gontran Cherrier. The cafe is famous for its butter croissants, assortment of sweet and savoury pastries (including quiche), as well as its wide selection of both caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverages.

When we reached the cafe, we were blown away by the wide selection of food available, but what caught our eye was this circular chicken and mushroom quiche right here. To our pleasant surprise, the quiche here is a little bit bigger than usual and was good for sharing. The first bite was creamy, and the taste of juicy chicken and mushroom was apparent. However, we felt that there were way too many mushrooms - we would have preferred more chicken for more meaty flavour and texture. The creaminess of the quiche did not make us feel "jelak", and the custard filling was surprisingly light and airy. But the highlight of the quiche was really the tart shell, which was crispy and had an overall nice bite to it. The tart shell perfectly complements the soft centre and acted as a robust base for the chicken and mushroom - almost like a grilled chicken and mushroom sandwich (but in circular form).

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the quiche served up at Tiong Bahru Bakery, and we can proudly recommend all of you to try it if you happen to be at Raffles City. Tiong Bahru Bakery's other outlets at Eng Hoon Street and Tangs also have the quiche available at $7.50, so you have even more options! And that's all I have for today's foodie review, till next time and happy eating!
