Hello fellow Nosey Urbanites!! Today, on March 31st here in the No'Z'Y headquarters, it is international Thai culture day. So what better way to start off friday (YAY) than to take a trip down to 'Siam' country and be reminded why Thai food has such an impact on our Singapore food culture.

No, I am not referring to foods that belong in a 'Siam Diu', or Thai disco. In fact, there are so many nice food out there that will leave you saying 'Kop Kun Ka(p)'!

First up is one of the largest restaurant chains here in Singapore, Thai Express. If the elephant and the decals aren't enough to bring your mind to rural Changmai, rest assured the talented Thai staff will make you feel like a king.

To truly guage the standard of the food that they serve, one must usually look at the simplest dishes to ascertain their standard. It is these dishes that genuinely highlights the skills and the effort that the chef has put in. And boy, i must say the chef is really good.

Seafood pineapple fried rice is usually what it means; rice cooked with eggs, golden raisin, walnuts, with a collection of seafood (mainly prawn and Squid rings) and pineapple.

The first bite of the rice was actually surprising; in all 23 years of my life, I wouldn't imagine that the seafood fried rice can have such a sweet flavor. And in that dish each ingredient was well cooked so that you could taste individually the prawns, the raisins and the pineapple.

Last but not least, 10/10 on the presentation. Having a good presentation on any food dish shows effort, and denotes quality. Although, by the time the dish came here, the squid on the rice originally had dropped, ruining an otherwise perfect instagrammable picture.

When in Rome, do as Romans do. To have a complete Thai dining experience, no patron should ever miss out on ordering a cup of Iced Thai Milk Tea.

There is a fine balance that needs to be achieved when preparing this drink. The balance between sweet and black tea is crucial; too sweet and people might cringe, too bitter and it might not go well with the food that you eat.

I'm glad to say that the cup of Thai milk tea that i had achieved just the right balance of sweetness. Bringing a refreshing sensation with every sip to go with the Pineapple fried rice.

Food: 4.5/5

Price: $$$$ ($20 for the rice and the drink)
